Colored Contact Lenses: Professional Knowledge and Common Wearing Issues
Colored contact lenses (often called "circle lenses") are not only beauty items for enhancing eye appearance but also corrective lenses for vision problems. When selecting and wearing them daily, two core principles—professionalism and safety—must be strictly followed. Among the key selection criteria, oxygen permeability (Dk/t value) is crucial: daily disposable colored lenses generally have better oxygen permeability than annual disposable ones, which effectively reduces the risk of corneal hypoxia and redness. The choice of water content should be "person-specific": people with dry eyes are advised to prioritize lenses with 40%-50% water content to avoid the lenses absorbing moisture from the eye surface and worsening dryness.
For common issues during wear, a "symptom-cause-solution" approach can be adopted: if you feel a "foreign body sensation" after wearing the lenses, it is most likely due to misaligned lenses or residual contact lens solution. Gently push the lens to the center of the cornea with a clean fingertip, and rinse the lenses with normal saline before each wear to relieve the discomfort. If you experience "blurred vision," two checks are needed: whether the lenses are aged (annual disposable lenses are recommended to be used for no more than 8 months) and whether the power is suitable (it is advisable to have a vision check every six months and adjust the parameters in a timely manner). Finally, a reminder: regardless of daily or monthly disposable lenses, never wear them overnight—this is an important habit to prevent eye problems such as conjunctivitis and corneal damage, allowing you to enjoy both beauty and healthy eyes.
